This painting is inspired by the hymn with the same name, written by C, Austin Miles around 1912. The Bible reminds us in James 4:8 to draw near to Him and He will draw near to us. In the garden, God waits for us and through the flora He whispers, “do you have time for me”? The breeze, scents, sight and glow reaches out to us, calling us to enter the safe space where we can be refreshed and renewed as we spend time with

the Lord.

In the garden, He waits for us, walks with us and waits with us - as we go through life’s ups and downs. The waiting process can be painful and that’s when we can draw grace and strength from Him.

The single large tree in this painting represents the love of God, with its shadow lighting up a path towards Him. The leaves form a heart shape when seen upside down. The tree reminds us that we can live and love because He first loved us. God sent His Son to live among us and to be nailed to and hung on the Cross to die for us. Why does God want to wait for us and walk with us in the garden? It is because He loves us and desires for us to be reconciled to Him. May we be prompted as we see the evidence of His Love dripping from the tree, on to the ground in this painting.

Allow the mystery and beauty of the garden to draw us nearer to find rest, to find peace, to find Him and to find ourselves. Every step can give us new revelations. Take a walk in the garden. They are here for us and we are not alone.
