Alive In Love

“Alive In Love” is an abstract expressionist depiction of the unfiltered and uncensored conversations I have with Jesus, whom I know as a friend and a brother. We enjoy each other’s company around the coffee table. With Him, I am comfortable in my own skin, and we get to talk about everything. The communion that we share today is a foretaste of the Perfect Love to be found in Paradise.
 
I show up,
An act of faith, 
choosing commitment to my God. 
The heart-to-hearts,
born of hope, 
for my story tells me He is real.
My history does not matter. 
There is no shame, 
and I need not hide. 
Of emotions rough and raw,
Of loose, unbridled ambitions,
Of uncharted, startling transitions.
In heartbreak and in health,
In mystery and in certainty,
In confusion and in clarity.
Sometimes wild and wacky,
Sometimes battered and broken,
Sometimes calm and connected.
Dark days and colourful ones,
Memories past and dreams awakened,
Small moments and large graces, always abundant.
Through words and images,
Through tears and laughter,
Through touch and embrace.
With Jesus,
Nothing is too trite, 
too mundane or too outrageous. 
Oh yes, 
I sometimes skirt around the truth,
But He always draws me in, if I let Him.
He listens well; 
space, silence and always tenderness,
For He longs to touch me deep within me. 
I cannot miss,
If I look to the Cross,
of Love personified. 
He has freed me to be alive in love,
the grandest love, 
of I for Him, and He for me.
