Outpouring
At His final exhale, the sun’s light failed,
crushing darkness prevailed.
And angels held their breath and waited.
What would the Father do now?
Send plagues? Fling down fire? Exact vengeance on every liar?
How would Divine Justice be sated?
Holy rumblings!
The veil’s been rent!
Thunderings, earth shakings, rocks splitting,
Cosmic war unfolding
Is this the end that’s fated?
But, what’s that gushing roar I hear?
A crimson flood
Of cleansing blood
An unleashing of the Father’s Love?
Zealous love, Jealous love,
Potent love, Violent love.
Shattering through sealed dark caves of fear and hate
Light and healing dispersed in its wake.
The old is gone, the new is come
Hate has lost. Love has won.
So rend your hearts and not your flesh
Christ did it all, now just be blessed.
