In His Presence

This artwork is both a tribute to my father as well as to God. My father, the muse, sits serenely on an almost invisible chair; he takes up so much of it. A piece of cloth drapes over him, highlighting the contours of his body; it simultaneously obscures and reveals, much like how I experienced His presence throughout my childhood — slowly, I unravel the veil, equal parts hazy yet distinct. His gaze wanders, expression stoic, as if there are other, more important things on his mind. 
 
This monolithic figure of my father is one that I have looked up to since I gained consciousness in the world. I know that in my times of need, I can always turn to him. And I know that when I do, he will step down from the cold, stony plinth into my arms once again.
