It’s All About God’s Love
The artwork depicts the four types of love that we experienced as a couple in our first year of marriage. We experienced Eros, or the love between a man and woman, even before we got married, and it was all the more expressed in our daily married life.
Two months after the wedding, we were blessed to know that we were pregnant with twin babies. After 9 weeks, we lost the babies to miscarriage. We conceived again a few months later and had another miscarriage after 8 weeks. During this fleeting period, we experienced Storge, or the love between parents and children. We offered our unborn children to the Lord, even before we held them in our arms. They too, are experiencing filial love, or the love between brothers and sisters in heaven. In all these circumstances, in between congratulations and condolences, we experienced Agape because there is Christ in our midst. The unconditional love of the crucified Christ sustained us in going through the sorrowful periods, and the resurrected Christ gave us an assurance of His steadfast love.
As we move forward to the second year of married life, the process of doing the artwork is both comforting and healing. The images remind us of what we have been through in the short span of time in our married life. Likewise, it also gives us courage to face the future as God would have planned for us. We put our faith in God as sanctified by our marriage. We continue to hope in Him to bless us with a child as we offer our family in Christian service while here on earth. We move forward with so much of God’s Love in our hearts because it is only God’s Love that can turn our grief into gratitude, our pain into power, our tests into compelling testimonies of God’s work. After all, and in the greater scheme of things, it’s all about God’s Love.
