Guidance
Guidance for Primary School (Ages 6–12)
-
Being a loving person means being a doer, not just a talker. Saying "I love you" is nice, but showing it is even better!
-
"Not in word or speech":
-
Don't just say kind things. It’s easy to say "I'm your friend" or "I'll help you," but those are just sounds coming out of your mouth.
-
-
"In truth and action":
-
Love is something you do. If your friend is sad, don't just say "That's too bad"—give them a hug or share your favourite toy. If your teacher looks like he or she needs help carrying something, offer to do it – and do it. This is "action."
-
Guidance for Secondary School, Junior College or Millennia Institute (Ages 13–18)
-
How do you show real love and loyalty? Don’t let there be a gap between who you say you are and how you actually treat people. Your character isn't defined by what you claim to believe; it’s defined by how you actually show up for people when it matters.
-
"Not in word or speech":
-
It is incredibly easy to give someone a "comforting" line or make a big promise when things are going well. However, if your support ends the moment you finish speaking, those words don't carry much value.
-
-
"In truth and action":
-
This is about integrity. It means being the person who actually stays behind to help clean up, or the one who follows through on a commitment even when they are tired. It’s about ensuring that your "output"—the things you actually do—matches the "input" of your promises.
-
-
Other examples:
-
"I'm always here if you need to talk." vs Actually picking up the phone at 11:00 PM.
-
"I'm so sorry that happened to you." vs Bringing them a coffee or helping them catch up on schoolwork.
-
"I promise I'll be there." vs Putting it in your calendar and arriving on time.
